2020 NAFIS Spring Conference

March 11, 2020, Update:

The 2020 NAFIS Spring Conference has been canceled.
This afternoon, NAFIS Board President Chad Blotsky and Executive Director Hilary Goldmann sent the following message to NAFIS members and conference attendees.

Dear Colleagues,

The NAFIS Board of Directors, by a unanimous vote, has made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming Spring Conference, which was scheduled to be held March 15-17 in Washington, DC. We have also canceled the pre-conference FISEF workshop scheduled for March 14.

We know how important opportunities for professional learning, networking and advocacy in support of Impact Aid are to you, and we were reluctant to cancel the conference. However, our number one concern is the health and safety of the NAFIS Family and your communities, particularly in light of the ever-evolving situation regarding the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. Given the known and potential impact that it is having on our member school districts and their communities, as well as recent updates from the World Health Organization and DC Health officials, we believe this decision is in the best interest of our community.

Moving forward:

  • NAFIS will process full refunds for conference registration later this month – we appreciate your patience as we work through this process
  • You are responsible for canceling your hotel reservations directly with the Hyatt (or other hotel) – please do so as soon as possible
  • You are responsible for canceling any flight or other travel arrangements
  • Contact the Hill staffers you are scheduled to meet with and request to change your meeting from in-person to a phone call or other virtual meeting – and remember to use the NAFIS talking points in those meetings

Although we are disappointed that we will not be welcoming you to DC at this time and regret any inconvenience this cancellation may cause, we look forward to seeing you at the 2020 NAFIS Fall Conference, where we will be celebrating 70 years of Impact Aid.

If you have any questions, please contact NAFIS Executive Director, Hilary Goldmann at hilary@nafisdc.org or 202-624-5453.

Sincerely,

Chad Blotsky
NAFIS President

Hilary Goldmann
NAFIS Executive Director
